Subject: Welfare Grants

Dearest Esteem Veteran RRD Officers

1. Looking back to the period two decades or so ago, the focus, prioritization and provision of welfare grants for military veterans was not foremost and widespread as it is in the present setting. The provision of medical insurance during the early era were either not as revolutionary as it is now and beyond the affordability of the senior generation. While there were some benefits and support systems in place for veterans, they were not as comprehensive or specialized as the programmes that exist now.

2. In line with the ever changing landscape, with the well-being of veterans in mind, BHC continues to explore, break new ground and extend the needed welfare assistance to all members. Following on to this, BHC would like to share / announce the prospective implementation of the Increase in Welfare Grants as displayed below:

Please be informed the full ultimate implementation of this improved financial grants would need to be tabled and agreed in our forthcoming AGM (scheduled on 22 Nov 25). These increase in funding is weighed with our financial standing that is able to sustain for the near future. Notwithstanding some additional considerations are listed below:

a. BHC welcomes all members to share their insights, opinions, comments or perspectives that could be considered to better improve or reach out to all needy members.

b. Please note that though Spouses are not members, some consideration is accorded with only Serial 2a and 2c is extended to members’ wives.

c. BHC is also looking into, considering the provision of financial welfare assistance for members who are plighted by ongoing medical issues or special circumstances, as listed below:

(1) Undergoing cancer treatment.
(2) On dialysis.
(3) Bedridden due to heart issues.
(4) Disabled / handicapped.

4. Further to the above, BHC would be signing up all members to a Bereavement Insurance Package as displayed below.

5. The implementation of this Bereavement package is almost immediate, commencing from 01 September 2025.

a. The registration would be effective for all active members (registered and annual subscription paid). All members are kindly advised to update your membership dues.

b. BHC would fund initial registration along with subsequent yearly payments.

c. Spouses and children are considered in this package with no payment required.

d. For members more than 75 years, all payments would be in accordance with what listed in BHC Constitution. Notwithstanding after initial registration BHC would pursue this with Insurance Provider for this consideration.

e. Once this policy is in place, members would receive in full what is stipulated and should there be any difference with the constitution, BHC would foot the deficit.

6. Further to the above, BHC is working tirelessly to invigorate and provide more care and support for all Members. Hopefully some avenues and initiatives being pursued would prove to be successful.

7. Finally, all members are kindly requested to update your membership and enjoy the full fledge of current services along with those in the pipeline. Thank you.
