On the 4th August 2026, at1500, Black Hackle Club (BHC) conducted a courtesy call upon Mej Jen Dato’ Haji Sameon bin Haji Marjuki, the Director General (Ketua Pengarah) Jabatan Hal Ehwal Veteran (JHEV). The members of BHC’s delegation were as follows:
- Brig Jen Dato’ Nazrul Edgar bin Abdullah (R) – President
- Mej Jen Dato’ Sarman bin Bahrom (R) – Vice – President
- Lt Kol Hj Abdul Kadir Jayalani bin Shahul Hameed (R) – Treasurer
The courtesy call was indeed a success, conducted in a very cordial, positive atmosphere and served as both an ice-breaking and an important platform to formally introduce BHC. It was envisaged that this would pave the way for further rapport building and closer engagement with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The primary objectives of this courtesy call were:
- To formally introduce Black Hackle Club to the Director, particularly as BHC is not a registered organization under JHEV.
- To establish a healthy and professional working relationship based on mutual cooperation and understanding.
- To share BHC’s aspirations, vision and plans for the future.
- To explore possible avenues for further strengthening and enhancing the working relationship between BHC and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- To seek the Director’s advice and guidance on possible areas of support and cooperation in the management and implementation of BHC’s ongoing activities
During the meeting, the ensuing discussions did explicitly highlight the origins of BHC along with its institutional progression since and an insightful share of the welfare-oriented initiatives undertaken by BHC. The Director General was particularly receptive to BHC’s aspirations and its continued commitment to conducting welfare assistance for the benefit of the veteran community and its members.
The Director General expressed his support and appreciation for BHC’s efforts, and took note of the concerns, aspirations and future outlooks presented during the discussion. He further indicated his willingness to voice and advocate these matters at the appropriate level, with the hope that possible avenues for progress and cooperation may be explored.
Overall, the courtesy call was very insightful, did break new grounds in our mutual advocation and met the intended objectives. The positive reception from the Director General represents an encouraging step towards building a stronger and more constructive professional relationship. It is hoped that this engagement will lead to meaningful progress, enhanced cooperation along with possible support for BHC’s ongoing and future planned activities.
