Wardieburn Camp, Kuala Lumpur. 18 February 2025. Finally, the inaugural event of the Black Hackle Club for 2025, the Black Hackle Club Chinese New Year Celebration, has successfully concluded. The event was lively and attended by retired officers of the Royal Ranger Corps at Officer’s Mess 1 Royal Ranger Regiment, located in Wardieburn Camp, Kuala Lumpur.
The atmosphere was filled with laughter and excitement as conversations flowed non-stop, with stories of the past being shared. This event also provided an opportunity for former officers from various backgrounds and ranks to get to know each other better, despite having retired or left the service long ago. Many had never met or served together during their active duty, but finally connected after their service had ended.
The entire Black Hackle Club family also welcomed new members:
Captain Rosli bin Hussein (Rtd) – Service number 410599, commissioned into 1 RRD, now 76 years old and residing in Sungai Buloh, Selangor.
Major Peter Yeow Chow Cheong (Rtd) – Service number 200936, commissioned into 3 RRD, now 78 years old and residing in Kuala Lumpur. He shared that he served in the Army for four years before transferring to the Air Force, where he continued his service as a helicopter pilot.
Captain Tong Lye Heng (Rtd) – Service number 200926, commissioned into 1 RRD, now 77 years old and residing in Sungai Buloh, Selangor.
The Black Hackle Club family also took the opportunity to extend heartfelt thanks to Brigadier General Muhammad Fauzi Abu Bakar, Commander of the 12th Infantry Brigade, who was present, followed by Major General Dato’ Khairul Azmizal bin Ahmad Natal, Commander of the 4th Infantry Division. Their presence further enlivened the event and demonstrated support for the Black Hackle Club’s activities.
The event continued with a welcoming speech by Major General Dato’ Muhammad Anwar bin Abdullah (Rtd), followed by the presentation of lucky draw prizes.
BHC also expressed its sincere appreciation and gratitude to the 1 RRD team, who assisted with the event preparations at Officer’s Mess 1 RRD, the live band, all involved staff, including servers and cooks. Special thanks also went to members of Berita Tentera Darat Malaysia (BTDM) for their photo coverage.
The highest appreciation was extended to the President of the Black Hackle Club, Brigadier General Dato’ Nazrul Edgar (Rtd), for his tireless efforts in managing invitations, event coordination, and other related preparations.
