By: Maj B. Shuras Bathumalai (R)

25 Oct 2025. Kudat, Sabah. On a recent journey to Sikuati, Kudat, Maj B. Shuras Bathumalai and Maj Haznain Ngamil paid a heartfelt visit to former Royal Ranger Regiment (RRD) officer, Kapt Terence Vincent Anthony @ Mikael Danial Anthony Abdullah (R), aged 71, who is also a respected member of the Black Hackle Club (BHC). The visit followed news of his recent admission to Kudat Hospital due to a heart condition.

The journey from Kota Kinabalu to Sikuati took more than three hours, with the team determined to reconnect with their old comrade and offer moral support during his recovery. Upon arriving at his temporary residence, kindly provided by his father-in-law, Kapt Mikael appeared frail and tired.

However, once the conversation turned to memories of their service days, the atmosphere quickly shifted. Kapt Mikael’s face lit up with smiles and laughter, revealing glimpses of the strong and spirited officer they once knew. The exchange of stories and the familiar Rangers camaraderie visibly lifted his spirits, reminding everyone of the unbreakable bond shared among Royal Ranger Regiment officers.

Kapt Mikael now resides there with his wife and 13-year-old daughter, continuing his recovery surrounded by love and family support. The visit by Maj Shuras and Maj Haznain not only brightened his day but also reaffirmed the enduring values of Agi Idup Agi Ngelaban, brotherhood, loyalty, and care, that define the RRD family long after active service.

Such gestures stand as a powerful reminder that true comradeship transcends time and distance, and that caring for one another remains one of the greatest strengths of the RRD and the wider veteran community.
